Studies show that about 2/3 of all companies don't test their email campaigns before broadcasting. That's by far too much in my opinion. Pure360 put up a very good guide to show you why and give you tips what to do.

2. Email trends and benchmarks: UK and US
This article I found interesting for me as a European. The author compares open and click rates of UK and US email-marketing. Read here about his findings.
